Future-Proof Your Store with the Digital Product Passport (DPP)

The European Union is changing e-commerce with the ESPR (Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation, Regulation (EU) 2024/1781), in force since 18 July 2024. It makes the Digital Product Passport (DPP) the information tool of the products it covers: composition, origin, durability, repair, care and end of life, reached by a code on the product. The required content is set product group by product group by delegated acts; textiles, furniture, tyres, mattresses, iron and steel, and aluminium are among the first groups of the Commission’s working plan.

Seamless and Automated Passports

Filling in passports for a whole catalogue should not take weeks. The module turns it into a short routine, right in your PrestaShop back office:

• By category: choose the categories whose products get a passport (sub-categories included), and their passports are created in batches. A product that later enters one of them gets its passport when it is saved.
• Default values: enter once what products share, such as the warranty, the care instructions or the recycling stream, for the shop or for a category.
• Product tab: complete each passport from the product page, on the old and the new PrestaShop product page, with its completeness and the list of what is still missing.
• CSV import and export: complete your passports in a spreadsheet, then import the file after a line-by-line simulation; products are found by id, reference or EAN.

Transparency: The Key to Modern Customer Trust

Customers want to know what they buy. A complete passport answers their questions before they ask them, and supports your commitment to the circular economy:

• Instant access: customers scan the QR code on the label or packaging, or click the “Digital product passport” button and the summary tab of the product page.
• Useful information: composition and substances of concern, lifetime, repairability score and spare parts, warranty, care and user manual, safety instructions, sorting, take-back and recycling stream, recycled content, recyclability, carbon footprint, energy class.
• Proof: notices, declarations of conformity, certificates and safety sheets attached to the passport, and labels such as GOTS, OEKO-TEX® or EU Ecolabel with their number, validity and verification link.
• Who answers for the product: the manufacturer, the importer and the EU responsible person with their contact details, entered once and used by default for the shop or a brand. These are also among the details the GPSR asks online sellers to give.

Built for International Performance

The passport page is clear on a phone and on a computer, prints cleanly, and carries valid JSON-LD structured data for other systems. Every text exists in each language of your shop, and each shop of a multistore has its own passports.

Print-ready QR codes come in SVG for printers or PNG up to 4096 pixels, one by one or as a ZIP file for a selection, named by reference or EAN. They are generated by the module, without an external service, and their address never changes: a code printed today keeps working, even for a product you stop selling (its passport is archived with its picture) or if your license is not renewed (the passports stay online).

Your product pages stay fast: after the first display, the button costs a single database query and no write. The module works with PrestaShop 1.7.8, 8.0+ and 9.0+, with PHP 7.4 minimum, and its interface is available in English, French, Spanish, Italian and Polish.
